Barcelona's commercial filming permit process is more involved than Madrid's. The Ajuntament de Barcelona has specific requirements per neighbourhood, specific days and times when filming is restricted, and a process that rewards experience over optimism. That's not a reason to avoid it — it's a reason to work with someone who's done it before.
The city is genuinely one of the most visually striking in Europe. The Modernista architecture, the grid of Eixample, the contrast between the old city and the waterfront — it all works on camera in a way that's hard to replicate anywhere else.

Within the city, permits are handled through the Barcelona Film Commission at the Ajuntament de Barcelona. For the rest of Catalonia — the coast, the Pyrenees, other towns — the Catalunya Film Commission and each local council. We handle the applications and the follow-up.
For city-centre locations, plan for two to three weeks minimum. The old town and the busiest tourist areas have tighter rules and restricted hours, so the earlier we start, the more options you keep.
